Sympathy For The Turncoat - with pole

Mon Dec 17, 2007 at 07:27:35 AM PDT

The news that Holy Joe has come out for a republican motivated me to dust off an old song parody from the last election.  Originally, I was hoping the song could help sway a few more Connecticut dems to wake up to the lie in Lieberman and vote for Alan Schlesinger.  This time I'm motivated by the urge to rub their foolish decision to stick with Holy Joe in their faces.

And once again, Apologies to Mick Jagger:

Sympathy For The Turncoat

Please let me re-
introduce myself,
I'm a spoiler in this race.
I've been around for 18 years,
Caused many voters to lose faith.
I was around when Willy Jeff
Had to face that blue dress stain,
Made damn sure my sanctity
Trashed his name and sealed his fate.

Pleased to meet you,
Hope you guess my game.
But what's puzzling you is
The D behind my name.

Stuck around the Senate floor
Though my mind began to change.
Killing hope on progressive votes,
Knowing Howard screamed in vain.
I crossed the floor, led the moral war.
Legislating thought, just like Tipper Gore.

Pleased to meet you,
Hope you guess my game.
What's been puzzling you is
The D behind my name.

I sit and smile
in the center aisle,
As my "colleagues" fight
For the peoples rights.
Sometimes I shout
"Remember Kennedy?"
I make shameless use
Of his legacy.

Let me please re-introduce myself,
To the Grand Old Party's base.
And write those checks out to John McCain.
Checks to democrats are a waste.

And as you're voting,
Have some sympathy.
Have some courtesy,
And some taste.
Cast your vote for John McCain,
Voting democrat is a waste.

Pleased to meet you.
Hope you guess my game.
But what's puzzling you is
That D behind my name.
Woop-woo ... etc
